Why are there many websites in Runet and too few Internet startups?

CEO of Fast Lane Ventures venture fund Marina Treschova explained to the news portal digit.ru why startups in Runet often do not bring money.

Business laws are the same everywhere with our national feature being low level of entrepreneurial culture compared to other developed countries. Treshova believes that it is only a matter of time.

But Treshova also mentioned a positive difference tha being the Russian Internet market growing at a very high rate. “We are ahead of all European countries by the size of the Internet audience,” – she says. In Russia there are 60 million Internet users. Can you imagine what kind of potential this market has? There are a lot of websites in Runet already but few have quality as large businesses do. This situation has provoked an unprecedented increase in scale of the new wave of Internet business, and it’s certainly a positive trend”.
